Dr. Steve Agocs This course introduces doctors of chiropractic to the current state of the opioid epidemic in the USA and reviews the current scientific literature supporting the role of the chiropractic profession as a leader in the non-pharmacological management of pain. This course fulfills the Category 3 pain management CE requirement for the state of Kansas.
Topics include an overview of the current state of the opioid epidemic in the USA with a focus on Kansas and Missouri; review of current medical guidelines supporting the use of non-pharmacological approaches as first-line treatment strategies in pain management; and current scientific literature supporting the use of non-pharmacological approaches within the scope of chiropractic practice in the management of pain.
Steve Agocs, D.C. is a chiropractor and educator with over 23 years of experience. Steve is a graduate of Palmer College of Chiropractic and has been an educator at Cleveland University-Kansas City since 2007. Steve teaches chiropractic history and Thompson Technique and serves as the assistant dean of chiropractic education in addition to being a volunteer provider at KC CARE Health Center in Midtown. He has taught continuing education courses on Thompson Technique, pain science, kinesiology taping and instrument-assisted soft tissue manipulation.
Steve serves on the board of directors of the Association for the History of Chiropractic and the J. Clay Thompson Technique Foundation, as well as the instructor’s bureau for RockTape. Steve has special interest in pain science and ongoing pain syndromes and completed a certification in Therapeutic Pain Science from Evidence in Motion and Purdue University in 2022.
